Good to know

Safe mode is on by default. It only ticks leftovers it is sure about, and warns you about folders that may hold your saves.

Good to know

Nothing is installed until you press Update all, and a restore point comes first.

Drivers only come from Windows Update and the makers themselves. "Up to date" is good news: most drivers never need an update.

See which apps use your internet right now: what each one downloads and uploads, and what it used today, busiest first. Pause any app in one click, or slow down what it sends.

Good to know

Windows can only slow down what an app sends. Downloads can be paused, not slowed.

It only uses what Windows already has: no driver, nothing extra installed. Reset all puts everything back: press it before you remove Syphon.

File copies

Duplicate Cleaner

Find files you have twice and clean them up, with undo

Pick a folder to keep and a folder to clean. Syphon finds the files in the clean folder that the keep folder already has: the copies. You check the list, untick what must stay, and clean up. The copies go to the Recycle Bin, and Undo brings them back.

Good to know

It never cleans a Windows folder, a whole drive or a folder that holds your keep folder, and it never opens files that are only in the cloud (OneDrive).

Changed your mind? Undo brings the copies back, for 60 days, as long as they are still in the Recycle Bin. Delete for good is a red choice of its own: those files can't come back.

Good to know before you start

Is Syphon Tools free?

Yes. Download it, then sign in with a free Syphon account. You can create one in the app or on this website.

Is it safe to run?

The PC Optimizer lists every tweak before you click Optimize, so you can untick what you want to keep, and it has a Restore point button; the Uninstaller backs up everything it removes. You can check that your download is really ours with the SHA-256 code at the bottom of this page.

My antivirus warns about Syphon. Is it a virus?

No. Some scanners guess from how a file looks, and they sometimes flag new programs like Syphon. See the VirusTotal check on this page for the full report, in the scanners’ own words, and why this happens.

Windows says "Windows protected your PC". What now?

Syphon Tools is signed by Kaltora Arise B.V., Syphon’s publisher, with a certificate Windows trusts. SmartScreen can still show this warning for a new version until enough people have downloaded it. If you downloaded it from syphon.tools, click More info: it names Kaltora Arise B.V. as the publisher. Then click Run anyway. You can check that your file is ours with the SHA-256 code at the bottom of this page.

Windows says Smart App Control blocked Syphon. What now?

Smart App Control is a Windows 11 protection that only starts programs Microsoft already knows, or programs signed with a certificate Windows trusts. Since version 3.11.3 Syphon Tools carries such a signature (Kaltora Arise B.V.), so Smart App Control should let it run. Still blocked? Read what you can do on this page. We will never ask you to turn off your antivirus.

How do I remove it?

Like any other program: open Windows Settings → Apps, find Syphon Optimizer and click Uninstall. Used the portable version? Just delete the file. Paused or limited apps in Syphon Limiter? Press its Reset all first.

Why does it ask for administrator rights?

Changing Windows settings, switching DNS, uninstalling programs, installing drivers, pausing an app's internet and reading FPS data all need administrator rights, so Windows asks once when you start Syphon.

Can I undo what it changes?

The Uninstaller backs up everything it removes, and you can undo it for 60 days. For the PC Optimizer, click Restore point before optimizing so Windows can roll the settings back. The Syphon Updater makes a restore point before it installs a driver, and can put a device's previous driver back while Windows still has it. Syphon Limiter lists every change it makes: undo one, or press Reset all to put everything back. The Connection Booster can put your old DNS back while it is still open; after that, set DNS back to automatic in the Windows network settings. The Duplicate Cleaner puts the copies it cleans up in the Recycle Bin, and its Undo brings them back while they are still there. Clean-ups, like emptying the Recycle Bin, can't be undone.

How do I get updates?

Syphon checks for a new version every time you start it, so you don't have to come back here for every update. Everything that changed is in the changelog.

Will it run on my PC?

You need Windows 10 or 11. The tools are made for all kinds of gaming PCs, not just high-end ones. Only 120 and 240 fps recording depends on your graphics card; on others the recorder uses 60 fps and tells you why.
