# Syphon Tools > Syphon Tools is a free app for Windows 10 and 11, made by Syphon, with 16 PC tools in one tool menu: tune Windows for gaming, remove programs cleanly, switch to Cloudflare DNS, update your drivers, defragment hard drives, see which apps use your internet and pause or slow them down, record your screen, automate clicks, save videos, download torrents, and test your FPS, internet, network, CPU, memory and disk. Syphon Tools is free: you sign in with a free Syphon account, which you can create on syphon.tools or in the app. It runs on Windows 10 and 11. The download is a ZIP with a setup installer, and a portable ZIP with just the app is also offered; the ZIP password is `syphon`. The app needs administrator rights (Windows asks once when it starts) and checks for a new version every time it starts. The downloads page links a VirusTotal report and lists SHA-256 codes to check your download. Good to know: - In Windows the program shows up as "Syphon Optimizer" (SyphonOptimizer.exe). Remove it in Settings > Apps like any other program; the portable version is just deleted. - Undo: the Syphon Uninstaller backs up what it removes (undo for 60 days). The PC Optimizer has a Restore point button to press before optimizing. The Syphon Updater makes a restore point before it installs a driver. Syphon Limiter lists every change it makes, and Reset all puts everything back. Clean-ups, like emptying the Recycle Bin, can't be undone. - Every tool opens in its own window, so you can use several side by side. - Some tools download a free helper once, on first use: ffmpeg (Screen Recorder, Syphon Downloader), a download engine (Syphon Downloader) and aria2 (Syphon Torrent). Each tool link below points to that tool's section on the downloads page. The long version of this file, with every tool in detail, install steps and answers to common questions, is [llms-full.txt](https://syphon.tools/llms-full.txt). ## Pages - [Download](https://syphon.tools/downloads): the current version (setup installer or portable ZIP), all 16 tools with screenshots of the app, install steps, questions and answers, and the VirusTotal report - [Install guide](https://syphon.tools/install): how to install Syphon Tools in five steps (download, unzip with the password `syphon`, open the setup, click Install, sign in), with pictures of the real setup and answers for when Windows or an antivirus warns - [About Syphon](https://syphon.tools/about): who makes Syphon Tools (building things for gamers since 2004), his other projects, and six checks you can do yourself with free tools from Windows and Microsoft - [Changelog](https://syphon.tools/changelog): every update to Syphon Tools, newest first - [Live hardware stats](https://syphon.tools/stats): the most used processors, graphics cards and Windows versions on PCs that run Syphon Tools - [Free account](https://syphon.tools/register): create the free Syphon account you need to sign in to the app ## Tools - [PC Optimizer](https://syphon.tools/downloads#tool-optimizer): checks 63 Windows settings for gaming, shows which are already set and applies the rest in one click (untick what you want to keep); 7 clean-ups; has a Restore point button to press first; some changes need a restart - [Syphon Uninstaller](https://syphon.tools/downloads#tool-uninstaller): runs a program's own uninstaller, then finds leftover folders, shortcuts, registry entries and startup items; makes a restore point first and backs up what it removes (undo for 60 days) - [Connection Booster](https://syphon.tools/downloads#tool-dns): sets Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1) on every active network adapter in one click, which can help when a game or launcher won't connect; a button puts your original DNS back while it is open - [Screen Recorder](https://syphon.tools/downloads#tool-recorder): records the full screen, a window or an area with game sound, microphone and webcam; 24, 30 or 60 fps (120/240 fps on graphics cards that support it); MP4, MKV or AVI with a small syphon.tools mark - [Syphon Macro](https://syphon.tools/downloads#tool-macro): records your mouse and keyboard once and replays it with a shortcut (Ctrl+Alt+R records, Ctrl+Alt+P plays); every step can be edited; Esc stops it; check your game's rules on macros first - [Syphon Downloader](https://syphon.tools/downloads#tool-downloader): saves a video from a link (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, Twitch and more) as MP4, or just the audio as MP3 or M4A; only save videos you are allowed to - [Syphon Torrent](https://syphon.tools/downloads#tool-torrent): downloads magnet links and .torrent files, several at once with pause and resume, using the open-source aria2 engine; for legal torrents such as Linux ISOs and open-source software - [FPS Meter](https://syphon.tools/downloads#tool-fps): shows your game's real FPS from Windows' own frame data, plus CPU and memory use, as an overlay for windowed and borderless games; it doesn't touch the game - [Speed Test](https://syphon.tools/downloads#tool-speedtest): ping, jitter, download and upload in about 45 seconds; uses real data (several GB on a fast line); the test servers are in Europe - [Syphon Port Check](https://syphon.tools/downloads#tool-portcheck): six network checks in one window: IP info, DNS lookups, ping with packet loss, website check, port scan and a finder for devices on your home network; changes nothing on your PC - [CPU Stress Test](https://syphon.tools/downloads#tool-cpu): loads every CPU core from 5% to 100% (change it while it runs) and shows live usage, clock speed and temperature; the PC gets hot and loud, stop it any time - [Memory Stress Test](https://syphon.tools/downloads#tool-memory): fills your RAM to a level you choose and holds it, then frees it at once when you stop; a load test, not an error scanner - [Disk Benchmark](https://syphon.tools/downloads#tool-disk): big-file and small-file (4K) read and write speed in MB/s with Microsoft's DiskSpd, on any drive, in about 45 seconds; the test file is deleted afterwards - [Syphon Updater](https://syphon.tools/downloads#tool-updater): shows every device and its driver in plain words (up to date, no driver yet, not working right, or a new version) and updates everything that's ready with one button, after a restore point; drivers only from Windows Update and the makers themselves (graphics straight from NVIDIA, AMD or Intel), plus a link to the PC's or motherboard maker's own page; can go back to the previous driver, clear out old driver copies and back up drivers for after a Windows reinstall - [Syphon Defrag](https://syphon.tools/downloads#tool-defrag): picks the right job for each drive: defragments hard drives (installed games first, so they load faster), gives SSDs a TRIM like Windows does and leaves USB sticks and memory cards alone; live map of the drive, pauses while you play, low disk priority, stop it any time; it doesn't raise FPS - [Syphon Limiter](https://syphon.tools/downloads#tool-limiter): shows which apps use your internet right now (each one's download and upload, and what it used today, busiest first); pauses an app's internet in one click (for 30 minutes, an hour, until you turn it on, or until the app closes) and slows down what an app sends (64 KB/s to 10 MB/s; downloads can be paused, not slowed); data caps per day, week or month; a game mode that pauses the apps you pick while you play; shows where each app connects to (flag, country and network owner, from data inside the app) with a Connection history; every change is listed, and Reset all puts everything back; uses only Windows' own firewall rules and QoS policies, no driver ## Community - [Discord](https://discord.gg/mH3YdMR74X): the Syphon Tools community on Discord;
